Why you need four lengths
Every launch site asks for your product in a different size. Product Hunt wants a tagline and a description. Directories want a one-liner and a paragraph. App stores want a short subtitle and a long description. Your homepage needs a meta description of about 155 characters. Writing each from scratch every time leads to five slightly different stories about the same product.
Settle them once:
- One-liner (60 characters). What it is. Used in cards, bios and title tags.
- Short description (160 characters). What it is and who it is for. Used as your meta description and in most directory listings.
- Long description (about 120 words). What it does, how it works, and who it is for, in two short paragraphs.
- Five feature bullets. Concrete capabilities, not adjectives.
Grounded in your page, not invented
When you give a website, the generator reads it first and writes from what the page actually says. It is told to leave out anything the input does not support, so it will not invent customer counts, awards or features. If your homepage is mostly rendered by JavaScript and has little readable text, add a few notes in your own words instead.
Writing tips that hold for any listing
- Lead with the job, not the category. "Tracks sourdough starter feedings" beats "A baking productivity platform".
- Name the audience. "For home bakers" helps the right people self-select.
- Swap adjectives for specifics. "Syncs in under a second" beats "blazing fast".
- Keep the same core sentence everywhere. Consistency across listings helps people and search engines recognise you.
Then turn the copy into posts with the launch post generator, and check your homepage's tags with the meta tags checker.
